📢 FRIDAY: RALLY FOR A SAFER WEST MARKET STREET

This Friday at 11am, join us at 34th and Market for a rally demanding PennDOT implement safety improvements on West Market St. We'll be speaking alongside state and city elected officials to demand PennDOT act now.
Philly Bike Action's  analysis found 139 documented crashes on Market between 38th and the Schuylkill just from 2020 to 2024 , making it one of the most dangerous corridors in the city.
So together with PBA, we called on PennDOT to implement a series of safety upgrades, and more than 1,400 of you joined us in support.
But we can't keep waiting for PennDOT to make these life-saving safety improvements--help us up the pressure with a rally on Friday:

🌉 DELAWARE RIVER BRIDGE BIKE/PED PATH

Tell the Turnpike Commission that we need a shared-use path on their new bridge over the Delaware River!

There is currently zero bike/pedestrian access over the Delaware River between Philadelphia and Trenton, a 25 mile gap.

The replacement of the I-95 bridge over the Delaware gives us a rare opportunity to shrink this gap and substantially improve connections between neighborhoods in PA and NJ.

🚌 ANOTHER BUDGET WITHOUT TRANSIT FUNDING

Last week, Harrisburg passed another budget without any new revenue for public transit, setting SEPTA up for catastrophic cuts in 2027.

But we can still stop this! Contact your legislators to remind them that they can't forget about transit!

🌻 REMEMBERING DR. BARBARA FRIEDES

This past Sunday, there was a touching memorial for Dr. Barbara Friedes, two years after she was killed while biking on Spruce Street by a reckless driver.
Check out this video if you weren't able to make it.
During the memorial, Council President Kenyatta Johnson  expressed his support for concrete bike lane protection, and attendees poured water into a symbolic jersey barrier.
