📢 FRIDAY: RALLY FOR TRANSIT FUNDING

Pennsylvania needs new revenue sources to keep transit systems moving across the Commonwealth. At this critical moment, transit supporters can take action now to encourage their legislators to create new revenue sources that keep transit moving in every PA community.

Join us this Friday , June 26th, at 10am at the 5th St./Independence Hall L stop for a rally and press conference calling on Harrisburg to fund public transit!

Almost every transit agency across the state is making cuts due to a lack of state funding--we need your help to stop this!

How else can you help?

  1. Sign and share this take action link from our friends at Transit For All PA. It's quick and easy, takes less than two minutes!
  2. Sign up to make a few calls to your legislators on your lunch hour this Thursday.

📈 WHY PEDESTRIAN DEATHS ARE RISING

Despite drops in pedestrian fatalities in peer countries across the world, US pedestrian deaths are up substantially over the past two decades.

Why is the US falling behind? At least part of the answer is our giant trucks and SUVs.

This piece from the New York Times does a great job visualizing how larger vehicles pose a much greater danger to pedestrians on our streets. From larger blind spots, to higher hood heights, crashes are both more likely and more deadly.

The Philadelphia Citizen / Guest Commentary: Seeking Someone to Volun-tell our Volunteers

Last weekend, the crown jewel FDR playground’s water fountains were broken and there was broken fencing all around it, a symptom of its haphazard closure due to safety concerns. 5th Square’s Will Tung noted in City Council that after a $27 million Rebuild renovation, Kingessing Rec Center suffered a plumbing failure that destroyed its brand-new basketball court.

Sign to show your support for more homes near transit! City Council passed a bill to increase housing near certain transit stations--we need your support to expand coverage to additional stations citywide.

 

🏫 UNIVERSAL STUDENT FARES PETITION

Sign this petition to support expanding student transit cards to cover more students and provide transit access on evenings, weekends, and summers.

 

🚲 LEGALIZE PARKING-PROTECTED BIKE LANES

Parking-protected bike lanes are a great way to make our bikes lanes safer and lower stress, but they are illegal on state roads! Sign the Bicycle Coalition's petition to legalize parking-protected bike lanes!
