Speed Cameras Save Lives, Say NO to Bill 260699
Tell City Council to stand up for safe streets and protect Philadelphia families: Say NO to Bill 260699!
Council Bill 260699 proposes lowering speed camera fines across the board, even reducing penalties for the most extreme cases of reckless driving – people who drive 30+ mph over the limit.
Traffic violence is an epidemic in Philadelphia, claiming roughly 100 lives every year.
Automated speed cameras save lives – and corridors with them have seen:
- 95% fewer speeding violations
- 21% fewer fatal and serious-injury crashes
- 50% fewer crashes involving people walking
Speeding kills.

Softening these penalties:
- puts families at risk
- strips safety protections from low-income communities of color that are hit hardest by traffic violence
- slashes funding for neighborhood road improvements
We urge City Council to stand up for safe streets and protect Philadelphia families.
