FAQ
What is the mission of 5th Square Advocacy?
5th Square Advocacy is a 501c4 non-profit focused on grassroots advocacy for a more affordable, safe, accessible, sustainable, equitable Philadelphia. We engage in issue advocacy and rapid response to legislation, host events, and provide support to other urbanist advocates, organizations, and actions.
Are my donations to 5th Square Advocacy tax deductible?
As a 501c4 organization, donations are not tax-deductible.
Will 5th Square Advocacy be making political endorsements?
5th Square Advocacy will not be making political endorsements, but will be sharing the endorsements and recommendations made by The Fifth Square PAC and other aligned organizations.
How does 5th Square Advocacy differ from The Fifth Square PAC?
5th Square Advocacy is a 501c4 nonprofit founded in 2025 and aims to effect change through grassroots organizing, issue advocacy, and engagement with elected officials.
The Fifth Square PAC is a separate state political action committee formed in 2014 to support candidates for local elected office who are committed to policy change in the areas of transportation, land use, and public space.
Is 5th Square Advocacy part of a SuperPAC?
No. 5th Square Advocacy will not transfer money to any political action committee, including The Fifth Square PAC, or candidates’ committee. SuperPACs and Dark Money organizations by definition rely on transferring money from the nonprofit to a PAC to circumvent disclosure requirements.
What are the disclosure requirements for donations?
While there are no donor disclosure requirements for 501c4 nonprofit organizations like 5th Square Advocacy, we will publish aggregate information showing our grant, donation, and membership income annually.
Political Action Committees, like The Fifth Square PAC, must provide specific information about their donors for each reporting period that is publicly available.
